Carpenters benefit in remote jobs program

WOODWORKERS and rangers in the remote community of Milingimbi in the NT say they see a benefit in the new remote jobs program.

WHEN the residents of the remote island community of Milingimbi found themselves in need of a coffin, they had to order them at great expense from Darwin, 500 kilometres away.

BUT now, through the remote jobs program, the residents are learning how to build coffins themselves and are selling them to neighbouring communities such as Ramingining and Elcho Island.
