NT Ombudsman call for anti-corruption body

THE NT Ombudsman has recommended police have new ways to report each another for improper actions and that an anti-corruption body be established.

AN Ombudsman's report into a Northern Territory Police scandal that's so far claimed two scalps has recommended the government consider establishing an anti-corruption commission to deal with problems in the upper ranks.

NT Ombudsman Peter Shoyer said that could sidestep the situation the NT found itself in in January, when former Police Commissioner John McRoberts was forced to stand down due to his conflict of interest relationship with a Darwin travel agent who was being investigated for fraud.
