A FORMER Northern Territory police officer has been accused of failing to properly investigate claims of sex abuse at the Retta Dixon home in Darwin.

A FORMER police officer has been accused of failing to properly investigate sex abuse claims in the face of a cover-up at a home for Aboriginal children in Darwin.

ROGER Newman was head of the Northern Territory sex crimes unit when he began investigating allegations against Donald Henderson, a carer at the Retta Dixon home, in 1998.
