NT mine 'destroyed community livelihood'
LEAD and zinc miner Glencore has been contaminating the water near Borroloola, freedom of information documents show, and locals are unhappy.
IN allowing contaminants to leak into a Borroloola river, mining company Glencore has taken away the community's livelihood, a local says.
DOCUMENTS obtained by the Northern Territory's Environmental Defenders Office under freedom of information laws this week revealed that the NT government was aware last September of a litany of problems facing the MacArthur River lead and zinc mine near Borroloola, on the Top End gulf coast.
