Man charged with sexual assault of a young girl
Police have charged a man with raping a young girl which allegedly left her in hospital with injuries.
A man has been charged with allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl in Melbourne.
Emergency services were called to Boundary Road near Racecourse Road in North Melbourne where an 11-year-old child was allegedly sexually assaulted just before 2pm on Thursday.
Police quickly swarmed the scene and knocked door to door following the alleged attack, while the girl was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital in a stable condition.
Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation team detectives arrested a North Melbourne and later charged him with one count of rape.
He was remanded to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
