Lives, homes under threat from out of control WA bushfire
An out of control bushfire in Western Australia’s south west is at emergency warning level.
A bushfire in Western Australia’s South West has forced residents to flee their homes.
The blaze at Newlands, around 50km southeast of Bunbury, broke out on Wednesday afternoon before an emergency bushfire warning was raised later that day.
As of Thursday morning, the warning remained in place as the “unpredictable and out of control” fire moved west.
The WA Department of Communities has set-up an evacuation centre at Donnybrook Recreation Centre.
Volunteer Fire and Rescue Service, Bush Fire Service, and Parks and Wildlife Service firefighters are on the scene, with State Emergency Service volunteers are also providing support.
A bushfire Watch and Act alert is also current for areas to the east and west of the fireground.
