Scott Morrison has expressed his "profound sorrow" over the tragic deaths of a Gold Coast mum and South Australian baby girl. 

Scott Morrison has expressed his "profound sorrow" over the tragic - and entirely preventable - deaths of Gold Coast mum Kelly Wilkinson and South Australian baby girl Kobi Shepherdson at the hands of domestic and family violence this week.  

 

"My response is one of profound sorrow, like it would be for all Australians," the Prime Minister told reporters after a National Cabinet meeting this afternoon.

"These are horrific and sadly they're not the first of these sorts of terrible and awful events that have taken place…There has been tremendous work done across all levels of government but these events once again tell us shockingly that whatever efforts we have been making – they can only be further increased. And that's what I believe would be the response of all governments in this country.
