Horror find on popular Queensland beach

A grisly discovery has been made on a popular Gold Coast beach after a suspected shark attack.

Giant fish head found on beach on the Gold Coast

A giant cod which came off second best in a run-in with a shark has washed up on a Queensland beach in an alarming early morning find for beachgoers.

The carcass of the half-eaten cod washed up onto Narrowneck, near the Gold Coast’s Main Beach on Saturday morning.

Gold Coast weatherman Luke Bradnam showed off a video of what remained of the fish on social media.

It’s not known whether the cod died before the attack or where the feeding frenzy took place.

The fish was found not far from where Mr Bradnam earlier in the year helped pull a body from the surf moments after he had been on air.

In February, the Nine presenter had been reporting on dangerous weather conditions at Narrowneck when he was flagged down by a boogie boarder alerting him to what appeared to be someone struggling in the big seas.

“Just after I got off air chatting with you guys a boogie boarder just behind me here alerted me here at Narrowneck, alerted me he thought he’d seen someone struggling again out in the surf,” Mr Bradnam told Channel 9 after the tragic discovery.

“I immediately stripped off and raced out with the boogie boarder to help the person in trouble.

“When we got close it became pretty evident that there was a body floating in the water.”
