Hackers target Qld police Twitter account
HACKERS have managed to spam a Twitter account run by the Queensland police service's media unit.
STEERING clear of computer hackers can be difficult, even for police.
A series of suspect web links have appeared on Queensland Police Service Media Unit's award-winning Twitter account which has more than 40,000 followers.
QPS is working to rectify what it has described as a "technical issue".
On Monday morning, @QPSmedia tweeted: "Nobody likes spam. Nobody. Sorry for bombardment folks. We're cleaning the gremlins out of our system as we speak."
The tweet was accompanied by a picture of a tin of Spam ham.
In 2012, QPS received international recognition for its groundbreaking use of social media, including Twitter, during the floods and cyclones of 2010-2011.
