Fatal croc boat attack a 'wake-up' for NT

THE NT coroner will consider whether the territory needs a stronger public awareness campaign to shake up complacency about the risks posed by crocodiles.

THE fatal attack of a Darwin man who was snatched by a saltwater crocodile while standing in his tinny on a Kakadu billabong was another wake-up call for the Northern Territory, an inquest has heard.

BILL Scott died when he was grabbed by a crocodile as he tried to fill a bucket with water after a morning of fishing in the Kakadu National Park last year. It was believed to have been the first time a crocodile had been bold enough to grab and kill a human from a boat.
