Dutton Park property ‘engulfed’ in house fire

Firefighters have controlled a massive blaze, but are yet to determine a cause as one woman was rushed to hospital.

Firefighters have regained control of a Brisbane house fire that left a boarding home “engulfed” in flames.

Police, paramedics and firefighters arrived on the scene at Walton St in Dutton Park, shortly after the fire is believed to have broken out at 2.50pm.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services had nine crews on the scene of the low-set timber property.

By 3.40pm the blaze was contained.

One woman was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to Mater Hospital in a stable condition.

There was no one else believed to be in need of medical care.

All emergency services remain at the scene as of time of publication, with primary searches completed by QFES and secondary searches underway.

Fire investigators will work to to determine the cause of the blaze.

An exclusion zone remains set up outside the property, but QFES has stated that all residents have been evacuated from the property.

“Emergency services were called at approximately 3pm to a Walton Street property following reports a house was on fire,” a police spokesman said.

“Upon arrival, the house was fully engulfed but has since been extinguished by emergency services.”

“One person was transported to hospital due to smoke inhalation.”
