Delicate rescue of worker pinned beneath excavator in Hunter Valley, NSW
A worker became trapped when an excavator suddenly shifted and pushed him to a wall, pinning his leg.
Fire and rescue crews have managed to free a worker whose leg became pinned beneath an excavator this week.
The man was working near a retaining wall at a Hunter Valley property in Guy Close about 1.45pm on Tuesday.
A nearby excavator shifted unexpectedly and pushed the man into the wall, pinning his leg with its tracks.
Ambulance and Fire and Rescue crews were able to stabilise the man before hatching a plan to remove the excavator without causing further damage.
The crews used an off-duty firefighter‘s four-wheel drive as an anchor point from which to lift the posi track using two hand winches and the 4x4 winch.
Once the man was safely extricated, he was flown to hospital.
