Asylum seeker on 6 week hunger strike
AN Iranian man who has been on hunger strike in a Darwin detention centre for more than six weeks has lost 23kg and appears very ill.
AN Iranian man whose application for asylum was rejected has been on a hunger strike since November 1 has already lost 23 kilos and is resolved to "go all the way", his lawyer says.
THE 33-year-old from Tehran has been in Australia for four years, and was on community release before the Refugee Review Tribunal determined that he did not qualify as an asylum seeker and should return to Iran, said his lawyer, John Lawrence.
