Bikies Queensland: Police investigating reports of ‘dead body’ exchanged by men in Arundel
AT first he thought it was a buck’s party prank. Now a Queensland businessman is living in fear after catching five bikies swapping a lifeless body.
A GOLD Coast businessman is living in fear after yesterday stumbling across five bikies transferring a lifeless body from one car to another.
It is believed the early morning incident was filmed by security cameras and up to 20 police are now working on the case.
Last night they confirmed one of the vehicles had been found and there were traces of blood inside it.
Still shaking hours after the incident the businessman, who is in fear of his life and asked his name not be revealed, said he could not believe the Underbelly scene that unfolded in front of him.
“They dragged him out under the back of his arms … he was completely motionless,” he said.
“His legs kept falling out of the door while they were trying to put him in (the car).
“I thought, ‘Oh, this is a stag party — taking him home after a huge night, delivering him back to the wife’.
“Then I got thinking — why would you be doing that in an industrial area?
“They looked like druggies and they were acting extremely nervous and agitated.
“I couldn’t believe what I was seeing ... I got scared, so I hid.”
Acting Detective Inspector Simon Garrett confirmed the police investigation.
“We have concerns surrounding the circumstances of what happened ... and we are concerned for the welfare of this particular individual,” he said.
“We are asking for the public to come forward if they have any information on any of the persons involved, who may have seen something.”
The bikies are said to be caucasian, aged between 23 and 28 and were casually dressed.
The incident happened at 8.15am with another witness saying he was stunned when he saw police cars and investigators combing the industrial estate which backs on to a property formerly used as a clubhouse by the Finks outlaw motorcycle gang.
He said that in recent years the area had been “particularly quiet”.
The man who raised the alarm said he was now wondering whether to return to work.
“I initially thought the exchange of the body was part of a prank but started to believe the man had been murdered,” he said.
The man, who operates a small business, was questioned for six hours by Criminal Investigation Branch detectives.
A factory operator revealed he made eye contact with one of the group, a dark-haired man, and said he was stunned the group had not approached him.
“They were parked outside when I arrived here,” he said.
“They were the only car in the carpark and they were all hovering around, very nervous and agitated.
“It looked odd straight away, so I sat in my car and took some photos.
“I watched them carry the body out of one car into the other one.
“Then they all had a big laugh.
“When I got out of my car I sort of eyeballed one of them and took my time opening up the door when they were putting the person into the back seat.
“It’s like they didn’t even see me and they were only 15m away — it was really weird.”
