Trolley bandit lets loose at WA shopping centre car park

A mind-boggling scene greeted shoppers when they arrived at a shopping centre on Thursday.

An overnight trolley bandit has taken to the carpark of a popular shopping centre and created somewhat of an art display for no apparent reason.

West Australians arrived at Cockburn Gateway Shopping City, south of Perth, Thursday morning to an obscure sight few would have encountered before.

About nine shopping trolleys had been overturned and placed atop a row of parking barriers.

The bizarre scene garnered a huge reaction after a photo was shared to social media, with hundreds responding confessing they were actually impressed.

“Very thoughtful. Might have been a bit windy last night,” someone said in a comment.

“Well at least they aren’t going to run into people’s cars. Great work,” another added.

Someone else took the opportunity to have a dig at Gen Z.

“We know it isn’t Gen Z’s – too much work for them. Maybe Millenials,” they wrote.

“As much as it’s a pain for someone to correct, it’s innocent fun. Much better than a lot of things done,” another said.

Others took the matter a little more seriously and suggested the shopping centre take action.

“Maybe gateway should lock their trolleys up at night and then this couldn't happen,” one said.

“This much energy could have been used in doing something more productive but,” another said.
