Stakes Day fashion 2019: What the stars wore
The stars have arrived in their finest at Stakes Day, but this stunning designer dress has stolen the show thanks to its flesh-flashing detail.
The last day of the 2019 Melbourne Cup Carnival is here, the week-long festivities wrapping up with the Seppelt Wines Stakes Day at Flemington Racecourse today.
Despite having already raided their wardrobes multiple times this week, Australia’s famous faces have done it again — donning more of fashions finest creations to attend the finale of the biggest racing event of the year.
Former Bachelor star Anna Heinrich has led the stars arriving at the Birdcage Marquee, her stylist Lana Wilkinson sharing a snap of stylish her ensemble for the day.

Wearing a pale blue dress by Misha Collection, she flaunted her long pins in the stunning ensemble. The Channel 10 Trial By Kyle star finished the look with a pair of cream pointed heels by Tony Bianco, a matching hat by Lisa Tan Millinery and an Oroton handbag.
While the dress has a demure vibe with its long sleeves, it featured a racy deep V neckline.
Noticeably, she appears to have attended separately to husband Tim Robards, who has been sharing Instagram Stories of his luxe arrival by an Uber chopper, with Anna not on-board with him.
The couple have been plagued by “split” rumours this week, with Anna attending Oaks Day solo — sending the rumour mill into overdrive. Though both have poked fun at the claims on their social media accounts, Tim telling the Daily Mail Australia: “We are happily married, it’s called gossip for a reason.”
Bumble’s director of marketing, Michelle Battersby, who appeared to be in the back of the chopper Tim was riding in has chosen a similar pastel tone dress as Anna’s for her stylish arrival at the event.
The Bumble VIP rocked a lilac design by Mariam Seddiq which features long sleeves and striking detailing on the shoulders. The outfit also has a cheeky flash of the flesh at the neckline.
Michelle finished her look with strappy black heels from Stuart Weitzman and an Oroton Bag, as well as a subtle headband by Ezara J.
While her dress appears incredibly sophisticated from the front, a snap from the back reveals a racy cut-out detail.
Channel 7 presenter and journalist Kate Waterhouse has opted for a more daring display, choosing a print patterned Dior dress with a racily sheer skirt. She’s accentuated her waist with a wide black leather belt adorned with a D embellishment and finished the look with a large white hat and matching heels.
The race-day regular shared several snaps of the chic outfit on her Instagram, where followers lapped it up.
“Love it,” one fan said, while another wrote: “Divine in Dior.”
Comedian Andy Lee and partner Rebecca Harding arrived arm-in-arm, Bec choosing a stunning floral Dolce & Gabbana dress and a matching tiara made up of bright flowers and a large green gemstone.
Model and teacher Brit Davis opted for a sleek pastel green pencil dress and matching open-toe heels, her flowing wavy hair decorated with a gold headband.
Model Lindy Klim arrived with her four-kids and husband Adam for the day — which is also known as the races “family day”. The squad posed up a treat on the carpet outside the Uber marquee.
Bachelor couple Sam and Snezana Wood also made a glorious appearance, their first since welcoming daughter Charlie together four months ago.
