General admission ticket sales are up almost 15 per cent, with racing fans pre-purchasing tickets to the Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington.

And it won't just be the guests in the coveted Birdcage marquees enjoying pampering and glamour trackside.

"I can declare this year is the people's Melbourne Cup Carnival, with the VRC doing more than ever for our general admission patrons, and the public appear to be responding," said VRC chief Dale Monteith.

General admission racegoers will have the opportunity to hit the free Swisse Body Day Spa, an oasis set up to pamper and refresh.
