Royal Ascot Ladies’ Day fashion is next level racewear
LADIES’ Day at Royal Ascot is the ultimate in racing-meets-royalty. Only it seems some of these outlandish dressers missed the “keep it classy” memo.
THERE is making a fashion statement, and then there is this.
Thursday marked Ladies Day at Royal Ascot — a prime event on the fashion calendar when racegoers meet royalty at the famous track in one of the wealthiest parts of the UK.
Only among the yards of tasteful lace and florals were a few people who looked at the famous dress code and thought “Not today!”
Check out their epic interpretations on the “hats please” theme below:
The famous race day has a notoriously strict dress code and permitted jumpsuits for the first time this year.
Women are instructed to wear dresses “of modest length” with no spaghetti straps, boob tubes, halter-necks or fascinators allowed. Crop tops or cut outs are banned and hats must cover “four inches” of head.
Men must wear morning dress with a waistcoat, tie and top hat. “Customisation” of top hats is banned inside the Royal Enclosure.
As for the Queen? She kept it classy in fuchsia.
