Oaks Day fashion: Frocks and shocks as celebrities seen in blue and green

THE fashion was on point, but Mother Nature had other plans for the Oaks Day. One woman made the most of it, stripping on live TV.

THE fashion was on point this morning, but Mother Nature has had other plans for the Oaks Day races in Flemington this afternoon.

But not everyone’s spirits have been dampened.

One woman was broadcast live on Channel 7 as she stripped off into her underwear in the rain and ran around the grounds, with little but an umbrella to retain her modesty.

Racing Victoria chief steward Terry Bailey said that although forecast tornadoes thankfully appeared set to miss Flemington, there would be a delay to Race 5 until the worst of the weather passed.

“Obviously safety is the number one priority. We’ve instructed trainers to keep the horses in the boxes until we have a better idea of what’s happening going forward,” Bailey said.

Oaks Day is soaked now, but things were much classier earlier in the day.

EARLIER: Some fashion ‘experts’ may say blue and green should never be seen.

But that rule was overturned today as two of the highest profile guests made the two hues totally hot.

The carnival may be nearly over but the fun, fascinators and frocks are still flocking to Flemington.

While there may be no blue skies there are plenty of blue hues on Oaks Day (aka Ladies Day).

The blue hue was worn on the busiest woman on TV, Edwina Bartholemew who looked like a princess wearing an exquisite lace dress from Kate Sylvester and a crown from Viktoria Novak.

Myer face Rachael Finch brought some blue into her Oaks day mix wearing a navy headpiece while Ashley Hart continued her reign as one of the Cup Carnival’s best dressed.

The Swisse ambassador wore pale blue dress with an embellished rose at the front while Entourage actor Kevin Dillon nailed in the cool green blazer.
