Inside Myer’s star-studded Melbourne Cup milestone party
Richard Wilkins’ model son has made a glamorous appearance at a star-studded party in Melbourne to celebrate a huge Myer milestone.
A string of Australian celebrities dazzled on the red carpet last night to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Myer’s Fashions On The Field Competition.
The annual event takes place during the Melbourne Cup Carnival each year to celebrate the gorgeous attire spring racing is known for.
As well as marking a huge milestone in 2022, this year’s competition is extra special as the Victorian Racing Club (VRC) recently announced it was ditching the gendered categories.
The Women’s and Men’s Racewear categories will instead be the Best Dressed and Best Suited Awards, with all genders encouraged to enter either category based on their own personal style.

This new era in the prestigious event, in which winners win price packages worth over $90,000, was celebrated with a glamorous black tie gala in Melbourne on Thursday evening.
Guests included VRC’s newest ambassador Christian Wilkins as well as Myer ambassadors Tayla Damir and Kris Smith.
Christian – who is the son of entertainment journalist Richard Wilkins – shared a behind-the-scenes video on TikTok taken while he got ready for the event.
Make-up artist Jade Kisnorbo applied a glittery silver eyeshadow to the 27-year-old’s eyelids before finishing with a statement eyeliner.
The model rocked the sparkling make-up with a black suit and heeled boots. His white shirt was finished with a black pussybow tie.
Myer model and former Love Island Australia contestant Tayla Damir wore a flowing royal red gown to the event, posing alongside Kris Smith who opted for a white suit jacket and black pants.
The pair also modelled in a fashion show for guests who dined on a three-course dinner and drank from a flowing champagne tower.
After the Myer fashion show, guests – many who had paid over $250 for a ticket – enjoyed a performance from singer Dami Im.
“Such an incredible night,” Tayla declared on Instagram.
“Thank you for a beautiful evening,” Kris added.
Others described it as an “beautiful” and “amazing” event.
The celebration comes a week after VRC hosted a star-studded lunch in Sydney to launch the Melbourne Cup Carnival in 2022.
Guests in attendance included champion trainer Gai Waterhouse, singer Delta Goodrem, Network 10 host Angela Bishop, athlete Candice Warner and model and presenter Erin Holland.
This year’s seven-day carnival begins with Penfolds Victoria Derby Day on October 29 followed by Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on November 1, Kennedy Oaks Day on November 3 and VRC Champions Stakes Day on November 5.
