SYDNEY Spring Carnival ambassador and E! Australia host Ksenija Lukich says the trick to looking fabulous this Melbourne Cup is to have fun with fashion.

With lace trims, ‘70s throwbacks and headbands — ideal to take you from the office to race day events — in vogue, the one rule is to be comfortable, Lukich says.

“Always dress for the occasion and wear something that makes you feel fabulous,” she said.

“The races are a great opportunity to dress up, but it is a long day so make sure you are comfortable ... Melbourne Cup is always associated with lots of colour but if colours are not your thing, I would suggest wearing a more muted outfit with pops of colour coming through in accessories and makeup.

“And always pack Party Feet for the latter half of the day.”

Australian Turf Club CEO Tony Partridge said Royal Randwick racecourse would host to the biggest Melbourne Cup party north of the Yarra River for the race that stops the nation on Tuesday.

“Join the Australian Turf Club for one of its biggest and most exciting race days in Sydney, with a spectacle of live races, entertainment and a last chance to experience The Bucket List Beach Club Marquee at Randwick Racecourse on Melbourne Cup day,” he said.

Racegoers will be treated to complimentary makeup touch ups at the Clinique Pamper Lounge in between races, have the chance to capture a race day photo at the McGrath Flower Wall, enjoy the popular Rose Lawn Garden BBQ plus enjoy access to a Chandon themed pop-up bar and live DJs throughout the day.

It is the last racing day of the Sydney Spring Carnival, that Mr Partridge said had attracted more than 90,000 racegoers and for the first time Royal Randwick hosted four consecutive race days.

“It is exciting to see Sydneysiders embrace the Spring Carnival,” he said.

“We are already looking to Sydney’s premier carnival in the Autumn which kicks off with Randwick Guineas day on March 5.”
