Delta Goodrem’s striking Melbourne Cup jumpsuit
Delta Goodrem has surprised Channel 10 viewers with a jaw-dropping new look midway through her Melbourne Cup appearance.
Delta Goodrem has surprised onlookers at the Melbourne Cup with an unexpected outfit change.
This year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup headline act arrived at Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday morning in a striking pink and light green jumpsuit.
But during her performance, the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) ambassador changed into a second bold outfit – an almost fluorescent orange floor length gown with a billowing cape.
The bright orange dress was certainly a statement piece, transitioning the star from a pre-recorded version of her performance song into a live appearance on stage.
As well as a statement cape, the gown featured long sleeves and a high neck, ensuring no skin was flashed during the show.
The cape also flapped dramatically behind the superstar, marking a memorable Cup Day performance.
Many social media users were quick to praise Delta’s outfit, calling it “stunning’ and “beautiful” on Twitter.
Earlier in the day Delta posed confidently in a contrasting flared one-piece made by designer Mariam Seddiq.
Her striking pink and yellow jumpsuit was adorned with a giant pink bow on her hip, the “ribbon” trailing down one leg.
The 36-year-old paired her bold outfit with a fluoro pink oversized hat, a strikingly different shade to the pale pink in her jumpsuit.
In a selfie wishing followers a “happy race day”, she played it safe, opting for a simple floral dress with mismatched accessories.
The photo appears to be a behind-the-scenes shot taken from her cover shoot on Tuesday’s Herald Sun.
Her floaty dress was paired with a strong purple hat with a cream bag featuring a brown strap.
Speaking to Channel 10’s Rob Mills and Kate Freebairn, Delta said she was thrilled to be celebrating the Cup in Melbourne, having performed in Sydney last year because of Covid.
“It is beautiful. It is spectacular. Last year we got to perform on the rooftop and we brought as many flowers as we possibly could,” she said.
“Nothing [is] like the 16,000 roses that are here and the energy of everybody coming together. It is such a huge team for everyone to bring this marvellous event to the world.”

But not everyone was thrilled with Delta’s presence – with fans taking to social media to express their disappointment that she’s an ambassador for the “barbaric and cruel” event.
“Delta looks great, that should distract me from the dead horses,” one man wrote on Twitter.
“Very disappointing Delta. This industry is barbaric and cruel,” another added.
“Your endorsement fee comes off the back of these beautiful sentient creatures’ pain, as well as the gambling fuelled social dysfunction it creates. Do better.”
“Disappointed to see @DeltaGoodrem supporting the #MelbourneCup by performing there today. #nuptothecup,” said another.
