As people scour the internet, ordering roses, booking restaurants and researching dates, it’s a great opportunity to find out where Australia’s most romantic people live.

In the lead-up to Valentine’s Day, coupon company Picodi analysed the data on the most amorous queries on the internet for Australia’s 46 largest cities and created a ranking of the country’s most romantic places.

The search list included terms such as “Valentine’s Day”, “love confession”, “flowers” and “love” among others.

And the results are in.

It turns out the most romantic Aussies live in the Tasmanian city of Launceston, followed by Northern Territory capital Darwin and Bundaberg in Queensland.

“It seems that Launceston’s charming Victorian architecture creates a romantic atmosphere among its residents,” Picodi said.

But if you live in Gladstone, don’t hold your breath waiting for those roses to appear. The central Queensland city came in 46th place with the nation’s lowest number of people typing in their sentimental search terms. Other places populated with the unromantic were Coffs Harbour in 45th place and Port Macquarie (44th).
