A brand new escort agency has just opened up in Australia that will change everything you thought you knew about sex work.
The most common, albeit not necessarily correct, perception of an establishment where people pay for intimacy and intercourse is usually rather sordid.
Think a large container of condoms by the bed, cheap low thread-count sheets and no shortage of fluorescent buzzing lights around every corner.
For centuries, sex work has most commonly involved one very straightforward transaction – a man paying a woman in the industry for her time and services, whatever that may entail.
But now it’s 2024 and things are changing...
Former Melbourne based matchmaker Anna Grosman is breaking down barriers with her brand new brainchild, Her Confidant, which launched across Australia earlier this year.
Destroying everything that people know about sex work, Grosman has designed one of Australia’s first ever exclusively male-for-female escort agencies that excel in luxury and enjoyment.
With just a small handful of carefully picked male escorts – none of whom have worked in the industry before – Her Confidant provides dozens of different sensual experiences at wildly varying price points.
Women seeking companionship can fork out anywhere from $500 for a one hour cuddle-only session to $25,000 for a week-long getaway with “the works”.
There are also around a dozen “fantasy packages” to pick from, ensuring there is just about something for everyone – including inviting a sexy ‘tradie’ into your home, having a meeting with your ‘hot boss’ or enjoying a sweaty workout session with a ‘personal trainer’.
Speaking to news.com.au, Grosman stressed how important it was that any female clients seeking any of these arrangements feel safe, secure and most of all – satisfied.
“We put safety above everything else, that is why our hiring process is so rigorous,” she explained.
“We police check all selected male escorts and they are thoroughly interviewed and we require evidence of all credentials before the gentlemen are selected.
“Safe sex is a priority, so no encounters will take place without the use of condoms. Our escorts will also undergo monthly swabs for STDs and blood tests quarterly.
“It is all about safety and discretion. It is about being respectful to both the companion and the client.”
This venture is not Grosman’s first time stepping into the male escort space.
She was one of the co-founders of the highly successful Aphrodisiac Male Escorts, which ran from 2012 to 2018.
After that ended due to personal reasons, Grosman — who has a background in medical services and is married to a doctor — had always dreamt of starting the business up again.
But after the pandemic hit, it never felt like the right time. Until now.

“When I started my first venture back in 2012, I felt there was no real quality service that really catered to women’s needs,” she said.
“There are so many different layers of things that women need. We are very, very different to any escort service that caters to men, with female workers.
“It has always been about quality of service for me, and that is what I have wanted to relaunch for Her Confidant.
“A lot of my clients had reached out to me after we first shut down and said there was just nothing out there for women anymore, so it really inspired me to start something up again.”
What types of women seek male escorts?
Grosman said there is no one single type of female that is interested in seeking services from a male escort.
From 20 year olds who have never had sex and want a safe space to lose their virginity, to 80 year old widowers who simply want someone to talk to, she has seen it all.
“We have many clients who are 20-year-old virgins and they are to embarrassed or scared to meet a guy on the apps or in a bar,” she revealed.
“Safety is a huge thing, lots of women just don’t feel safe meeting someone that way. This way, they know what they are getting into, it is safe, they can go at their own pace.
“They don’t have to worry about being assaulted, or having their drink spiked.
“We’ve also had women who are in their 40s who are virgins, and they just want a sure thing and a safe place where they can be themselves and not be judged.
“There are also women who have been in horrific marriages and are divorced, some have gone 10, 20, 30 years without having sex.
“Then there are those who have been widowed, or whose partners are disabled and can’t perform.”
She said that this experience can also be an extremely healing space for those who have been through different types of sexual trauma to regain their confidence and work through issues.
“It can be extremely therapeutic,” she said.
“I work closely with a sexologist, psychologist and a psychotherapist, so if there are any issues that we come across, we can get that help.
“It is a form of sex therapy and I have seen it change women’s lives in so many ways.”
Grosman says she is trying to help break the stigma surrounding women who use male sex workers and highlights how harshly women can be judged for doing this.
“There is nothing wrong with an independent women doing this, she can choose what she does with her money, her time and her body,” she said.
“I'm trying to get rid of the shame and stigma attached to this. Men have been using these services for thousands of years.”
Male escort spills all
The process to being hired as an escort at Her Confidant is an extremely diligent one.
Potential men are put through a rigorous set of tests and trials to ensure they are the perfect fit.
All of the escorts that Grosman hires are not professional sex workers. In fact, this is the first time any of them have stepped foot in the industry.
They are all coming from professional backgrounds are just “normal, lovely and handsome guys” who “know what they’re doing” in the bedroom.
And yes – the sex part is also a crucial step in the hiring process, however Grosman herself is not involved in this test.
“We have to ensure they know how to treat a woman,” she explained.
“So the escort will have time with a female, and she will report back. Only the highest standards are accepted.
“It is so much more than just sex though. It is about making a woman feel special, listened to and cared about in those moments.
“It really is all about them and their desires. The sky is the limit.”
One of Grosman’s escorts, Xavier*, spoke to news.com.au about the experience.
“I always thought this was something I would be reasonably good at,” he said.
“As it turns out, I’m great at it. And I love doing it. I love making women happy.
“I love to empower women in that way and help them get their spark back.”
Xavier explained that it was all about quality rather than quantity, and he always strives to ensure every woman has a very special and unique experience.
“Lots of women are suffering from a total lack of intimacy in their relationships,” he said.
“Sometimes all they need is a hug. They want to feel valued and validated.
“I’ve had one woman say to me that our time together has helped her more than any doctor or any psychologist ever has in the past. And that is just so rewarding.”
Xavier said that along with those seeking a therapeutic connection, there are also many powerful women who simply have no desire to have a relationship, but do want to have their needs met.
“Some of those CEO types, they simply don’t have time, so they seek out our services,” he said.
“I think Anna has done an amazing job with breaking down the shame and stigma around it.
“A woman should have the right to feel amazing and empowered through sex.”
Xavier also acknowledged that while some women can have issues with their self-esteem and confidence surrounding their bodies and sex, he always ensures it is a safe space.
“I am always going to make that woman feel special and there is something attractive in every woman,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m not focused on that. I want them to feel relaxed and enjoy the experience.”
