Best-selling author Jordanna Levin has revealed a simple astrological mistake that people have been making for years when it comes to sex.

Best-selling author and manifestation “guru” Jordanna Levin has revealed a simple misconception when it comes to sex that men and women have been making for years.

In an eye-opening chat with Jana Hocking, the host of news.com.au's relationship podcast Kinda Sorta Dating, Jordanna spoke about the role astrology – which many people scoff at – can play when it comes to sex and dating.

But, she said, if you are going to use someone’s natal chart to your advantage, you need to look beyond just their time of birth and sun sign (their horoscope) – a mistake that Jana admitted she’s made dozens of times.

“Just to have a look at a Taurean and go, ‘I’m a Leo, it’s not going to work’ – that’s just bullsh*t, it just doesn’t work like that,” Jordanna explained.

“Oh I’ve been looking up the wrong thing this whole time,” Jana laughed.

When looking at your own, or your partner’s, natal chart, Jordanna explained, it’s important to consider “your Venus, which is all about love and creativity and beauty, and then your Mars sign, which is really interesting in relationships”.

“It’s how you deal with conflict, but also sexual intimacy and your deepest desires – which I think can be really illuminating because if you’ve got a certain set of desires and your partner’s got something completely different, incompatibility will really come up in those areas,” she added.

“That’s so interesting – because I never believe when people say, ‘Oh, this person’s really good in bed’ and ‘This person’s terrible in bed’,” Jana said.

“I always think maybe they were mismatched and the person that you think is terrible is probably having really great sex with someone who’s into the same thing.”

Jordanna chimed in, saying she’d just written an essay on this topic “the other day”.

“I think, and tell me what you think, but how do you know that you’re good at sex? Because I’ve had really great sex and I’ve also had really bad sex,” she laughed.

“And the times that I’ve had really bad sex, I’d like to think it wasn’t because I’m not good at having sex, it really is a compatibility thing. It’s a chemistry thing.”

To which Jana agreed, saying “absolutely”.

“And I can always tell – this sounds kooky – but I can tell if I’m going to have a long relationship with someone based on a kiss,” she added.

“I’ve never had a good relationship with someone who we’ve both just not – our kisses haven’t been in tune and they’ve just felt off. And they’ve never proven to be good boyfriends.”

Jordanna said that for both of them, ‘that intimacy thing is really important’.

“I think for other people, it might not be the priority in the relationship,” she said.

“So maybe kissing here or there, that doesn’t really matter as long as they’re feeling intellectually stimulated or feeling like their sense of humours are aligned.”

The most “illuminating thing” about astrology, Jordanna said, “is what you learn about yourself” and how you can then apply it to the people you meet.

“So it’s not so much about finding someone who you think you’re compatible with by looking at their chart and asking what time they were born, but it really is a tool to learn about who you are and what you desire, and what you need,” she added.

“And when we can flip the spotlight back on ourselves, that’s when dating and relationships gets really fun.”
