A Gold Coast couple with a large following caused a stir after revealing some “straight facts” about their relationship many didn’t expect.

Chloe Szep: the Gold Coast influencer courting controversy

An Australian influencer has revealed she sleeps in a different bedroom to her long-time partner – and the admission has people divided.

Chloe Szepanowski and her partner Mitch Orval have been together for eight years and share two boys, Arti, two, and Sunny, nine months.

The pair, from the Gold Coast, Queensland, have amassed a huge following sharing their lives on social media.

But the 24-year-old just shared an unexpected detail about their personal lives after a fan asked about the state of their relationship during an Instagram Q&A.

“How is Mitch & your relationship since expanding your family” the follower said, prompting Szepanowski to reply with some “straight truths”.

“It’s never perfect! We argue, get disconnected, he sleeps on the couch majority of the nights (cause he sleeps better),” she wrote.

“Sleeping with two kids he says he sleeps like a Labrador HAHAHA.”

The influencer, who sparked controversy during Covid lockdowns for flouting health restrictions, went on to explain how the unusual sleeping arrangement affects their sex life.

“We juggle the household and kids and if there’s any time at night we will watch something or give each other a massage, have a bath, get frisky,” she continued.

“And then other nights we wanna watch our own shows or do our own things.

“It’s a wild ride, but we doing it together at the end of the day. It becomes almost a mutual understanding and we take what we get.”

While Szepanowski and Orval appear happy with their unusual sleeping arrangement, social media users weren’t all convinced, with some claiming it was “weird”.

“This relationship is doomed,” one even remarked.

“If that’s your relationship at 24 I would be worried. Get those kids out of your bed and into their own bed... before it’s too late,” another suggested.

However, many defended the move, telling the young couple to “do what feels right for you”.

“Whatever floats your boat, no one else’s business,” someone said.

Szepanowski isn’t the only well-known Australian personality who has caused a stir after revealing a candid bedroom confession.

David Campbell recently explained “something happened” in his marital bed that he “was not ready for” in his latest column for Stellar.

The Today Extra co-host said his wife Lisa had gone against relationship experts advice and asked to change her side of the bed, much to his dismay.

“My wife recently broke her wrist while running. She recovered but for a while had a cast on her arm, and this turned our bed into a war zone – not for her, for me,” he wrote.

“There is no easy way to sugar-coat this: she asked me to swap sides. She needed to be on my side of the bed.”

Campbell – who has been with his wife for 17 years, and shares children Leo, Billy and Betty – identifies as someone who has “always” slept on the left side of the bed.

“So much so that, out of respect to [Lisa] – and habit – I just don’t veer to the right side of a bed. If she is away for work, I keep to my side, though I do believe our dog claims it as her own – and who am I to argue?” the 49-year-old said.

“If I’m away for work in a hotel, I still stick to my side. I’m a creature of habit.”

While his wife transitioned to her new side with ease, Campbell said he “felt existential dread” every time he got into bed.

“Where am I? Where do I put my legs? Will I ever fall asleep again?” he wrote.

“We laughed it off the next day, though I have to be honest with you, the other side is odd … It was like being jet-lagged and not knowing which country I was in.

Their new sleeping arrangement went on for weeks, with Campbell admitting he would “sometimes lie awake and watch her cast while she was sleeping, trying to will her wrist better.”

Thankfully, once Lisa had fully recovered, the pair swapped back and his sleep was finally restored.

“I had a celebration nap on my side. The good side. The right side. The side where I belong.”
