What new moon in cancer has instore for all star signs
Four star signs in particular are in the thick of it this week with a difficult cosmic challenge. Astrologer Vanessa Montgomery reveals all.
Break out the emergency self-care kit — this week’s new Moon in Cancer is challenging.
Saturday’s new Moon is in water sign Cancer, which we associate with parental nurture, care, and ideal family feels. However, it forms a particularly stressful cosmic ‘situation’ with Chiron, an asteroid that orbits our solar system, suggesting wounds around nurture, family, and perhaps our perception of abandonment.
The trick is that no matter the reality of our past, it’s on us not to abandon ourselves or lock ourselves in a metaphorical pool house. Then, we wonder how we got there. Let yourself out!

It’s complicated
The complication continues as Pluto, the planet of power, and associated tussle is in the mix. Water signs are known for their emo moments so if that’s you let salty tears flow from a simple issue to something more profound, no one’s judging here. As they say, the healing is in the feeling, it’s part of the process.
Let go of a story you no longer need. It’s time to change the narrative with this new Moon. Set your seeds of intention, make a ritual, perhaps use water, a candle, food, and drink to represent nurture and self care. Put into motion what you want to gestate over the next six months to ripen by the full Moon in Cancer.
For those less woo, this is simply a way of planning. Planning comes from the creative side of your mind, so get in there and create.
Star signs in choppy water this week
Mid Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, and Libra are in the eye of this week’s cosmic challenge. Take extra care and stay aware of how your perceptions inform your feelings, and your feelings inform your perceptions. Read this week’s horoscope to learn the area of life best for new beginnings.
Thankfully, it’s not all tough news. The week begins with a fabulous surprise act, a creative aspect between the Sun and the planet of sudden brilliance, Uranus. Update your concept of self, get with the program and express yourself in a thoroughly modern way. If you have something to pitch, you’ll nail it on Monday.
Tuesday is great for a more artistic approach, it’s more Monet than HD – this is your moment to colour outside the lines.
Reach out. Make the most of a supportive flow midweek and make the first move in a relationship that could do with tending and mending. Include your connection to yourself around aesthetics, beauty ideals, or relational styles. Focus on self-acceptance, express your love language and welcome others.
