Westfield shopping centres are ser to change their Santa photo in WA

Westfield has unveiled a major change to its Santa photo offering in one state.

PrideFEST will be even more jolly this year in Western Australia with Westfield shopping centres hosting a special queer-themed Santa photo shoot day for LGBTQI+ families.

In what is believed to be an Australian-first, the Living Proud this Christmas event will be held at all Westfield centres in WA, including Booragoon, Carousel, Whitford City and Innaloo on November 19.

Santa photography sessions will include Pride props, face painting, drag queens and roaming entertainment.

The event is being delivered in partnership with Living Proud, a WA not-for-profit organisation that provides peer support for the LGBTQI+ community, corporate training and programs.

All proceeds from the Santa photography sessions will be donated to Living Proud.

Living Proud WA chairperson Barry Cosker said it had been incredible building a festive Christmas experience with Westfield.

“This experience will not only be welcomed by rainbow families across Perth, but funds raised will continue to assist Living Proud in supporting the wellbeing of the wider community and assist in other organisations becoming more inclusive of the LGBTIQ+ community,” he said.

Scentre Group WA regional manager of centre experience Lachlan Monfries said everyone was welcome.

“The initiative is part of a much broader commitment to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive culture year round within all our Westfield Living Centres and across our entire business, celebrating days of significance such as Wear it Purple Day and Mardi Gras,” he said.
