The Button: Woman brutally rejected during date over Marvel mistake

A woman who made a mistake about the Marvel franchise has been brutally rejected during a date as a clip of the incident goes viral.

A clip from an online speed dating show is going viral after a Marvel fan rejected a woman in a brutal fashion.

The rules of The Button are that when a button lights up red, any contestant may press it and swap out their date for a new person.

If both people can last without pressing the button for 10 minutes they win an all expenses paid second date.

Donny was introduced as a Marvel fan.

She said she didn’t like “anime”.

In a recent video posted by Cut on YouTube, Donny was introduced to a woman and she was told “he’s a Marvel nerd”.

“Are you into Marvel?” the button asked his date.

“You know what, no,” she responded.

“My brother watches them but I just can’t get into anime.”

They both reached for the button at the same time.

Donny instantly reached for the button to swap out for a new date, clearly outraged that she had mixed up the US comic and movie franchise with Japanese animation.

She also reached for the button at the same time, unimpressed with his hobby.

“Like, you can’t not like Marvel,” Donny responded.

“It’s amazing. There are so many different things and it’s not anime, it’s a bunch of superheroes who try to save everybody.”

There was a “painful” pause.

A really long awkward pause followed and she said, “Yeah, I’ll give it a chance... maybe.”

Donny explained, “I have a dog named Marvel, it’s a big deal to me.”

She later told the room of girls that she was rejected because she didn’t like Marvel, which prompted a burst of laughter.

“This is painful,” one person wrote in response to the video.

Later in the episode another contestant Don revealed he “only likes Asian girls” and hit the red button for two non-Asian girls. The first Asian girl who he matched with immediately buzzed him out though.

The comments were pretty brutal.

“The guy who only wanted Asian girls getting rejected by the first Asian girl, and then the guy who only wanted Latina girls getting rejected by the first Latina girl, was chef’s kiss.”
