A UK woman has revealed her gripe with dating in Australia — and she isn’t the only one who has been feeling that way.

Jasmine Bell, 25, moved to Australia four months ago from her home in England.

But she recently declared that she will never take men from back home for granted ever again after her dating experiences on the Gold Coast.

Ms Bell explained she was excited to start dating an Aussie when she first arrived, but the first person she began seeing ended “badly”.

“He was speaking to other people behind my back, but giving me full on girlfriend treatment. He was seeing me everyday,” she told news.com.au.

'Girlfriend treatment'- Mistake all Aussie men making

She said this is different to the UK, where you will be seeing someone for a few weeks and while it “may not be going anywhere, they’re still quite loyal towards you”.

“They won’t speak to any girls behind your back,” she explained.

Ms Bell said in Australia, men are either “too laid back” or “don’t care” and it’s opened her up to a “new world” of dating – one she’s not a fan of.

“It’s just hook up culture here,” she said.

Ms Bell also added that women have to do a lot of the work in Australia, whether that’s making the first move or buy a man a drink.

“It’s like the roles are reversed here,” she said.

But, she did say a perk of that was if you wanted a night out with your pals, it was unlikely you’d be bothered.

It was this first-hand experience of dating an Aussie that prompted her to declare that British men are better boyfriends.

“Since I’ve been here, I’ve realised they’re actually not that bad,” she said in a viral TikTok. Ms Bell has now jumped back on the dating app Hinge after her recent break up, but she feels that all Aussie guys want to do is see a woman the same day and hook up — which prompted her to make the video.

“I just think, they don’t know anything about me and they could be a serial killer for all I know,” she said.

“The worst thing they do is ask for Snapchat. I can’t get my head around it. You’re 28 years old. Why are you asking for my Snapchat?”

Ms Bell’s video racked up close to 100,000 views, and hundreds of comments.

“Girl same I love this country but I never thought I would say that but it’s sooo true,” one social media user said.

One added: “Glad I’ve seen this on my first week here.”

“Literally, love bombing at its finest here,” one social media user added.

One said: “Heavy on selling a dream that’s actually a nightmare lmao.”

“No I miss the UK guys, they are angels compared to here,” one person also said.

Ms Bell said many people agreed with her, with many agreeing there is a weird “girlfriend treatment” and then the man completely pulling back.

However, Australian men did score some points with the expat. She said they aren’t shallow, they just want you to find them funny.

She hasn’t completely ruled out dating, but she’s a lot more “wary” and knows what to look out for.
