‘Very realistic’ sex doll mistaken for corpse on New Zealand beach
A woman called the police when she found what she thought was a headless corpse naked lying naked on a beach.
A woman in New Zealand called the police after she discovered what she thought was a headless corpse on a local beach.
But on closer inspection she found it was merely a “very realistic” sex doll. Albeit in a very bizarre location.
Alice Cowdrey was with her dog on Tapuae Beach, south of New Plymouth on the west coast of New Zealand’s North Island, on Tuesday.
The local artist told Radio New Zealand that her dog Sadie spotted something on the beach and began sniffing around it.
“I just sort of froze, and felt sick.
“I could see it was definitely the shape of a torso, face down, and I could tell it was a woman’s figure.
“I could see it had fingernails and the toes were really realistic, so it really looked like a human figure,” Cowdrey said.
Her dog wasn’t fussed by the find.
But Cowdrey said she began “freaking out” after moving closer and spotting it had no head.
She called the police and said when they arrived they too were convinced it was a body.
‘Very realistic’
“And then I sort of saw one of the cops nudge it with his foot, and I thought, he’s not going to nudge it if it’s a body,” she said to RNZ.
“He flipped it over, and it was even more realistic when it was on its back.
“It was very realistic … but obviously you could tell it was a sex doll.”
Cowdrey said it was so heavy it took three officers to drag the sex doll off the beach.
It remains a mystery as to how a headless sex doll ended up on a quiet beach.
NZ Police did not comment to RNZ and said they were instead prioritising “urgent incidents”.
