Tominey Reid’s parents received a devastating call about the incident, which occurred at 1.30am, stating that she had fallen approximately 21 meters to the ground.
The young woman went under several lifesaving surgeries at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital after miraculously surviving the plunge.
Her family said hospital staff described her survival as a “miracle,” and acknowledged that the road to recovery will be long and challenging.
Tominey’s father Brad shared the news of her accident on Facebook.
“After the longest week of lifesaving surgeries she has miraculously defied the odds and [is] still with us,” he wrote on Saturday.
“She has the biggest fight ahead of her but is one of the strongest people I know and is ready for this fight! T-Bomb will come out of this stronger than ever!”
Kirstin Small, Tominey’s aunt, created a GoFundMe page to support the family throughout the difficult period. As of Monday the family have raised over $43,500, edging closer to their goal of $50,000.
“Described by hospital staff as sweet, clever, brave, and with her sense of humour definitely intact, Tominey’s personality radiates warmth and resilience even during these trying times,” the fundraiser read.
“Tom has a range of very serious injuries however she is responding well.
“This beautiful human’s 21st birthday is approaching in four weeks and she has been working towards big goals before her tragic accident,
“This appeal aims to not only assist with her ongoing medical/rehabilitation expenses but also provide support for her mortgage and other financial responsibilities.”
