TikToker responds to hate for crying at Disneyland
A 27-year-old TikTokker was slammed for crying at Disneyland. Now she’s hit back at haters.
A 27-year-old Tiktokker has caused waves after she shared a video of herself crying after meeting Goofy at Disneyland. I’m here to defend this poor woman.
In the video, Sarah Rachul shared the video to her account, @everydayisdisney, explaining that she’d waited three years to meet Goofy at Disneyland. It IS supposed to be the happiest place on earth, after all.
In the widely ridiculed video, she starts crying and runs to embrace the character as Goofy walks out to his adoring fans, who, yes, are mostly children. It’s wholesome, it’s sweet and in this world of what seems like endless horrible news stories, it’s absolutely not hurting anyone.
Yet, some people took issue with Rachul’s joy, simply because they decided she was too old to be this happy and wanted her to “grow up”. The clip now has more than 238,700 likes, millions of views and over 7000 comments, many of which shamed her.
“The guy in the suit was prob embarrassed for her,” said one commenter.
“We need to do something about Disney adults,” said another. Which is a personal insult to me and my Disney+ membership.
“Ohh k (sic) yeah im fine with Disney adults but some of y’all grown people need to remember there’s another adult in the costume lol,” said yet another, killing the magic.
Now look, I can shutdown their hateful comments in one move — by pointing out the caption Rachul shared with the post.
“I can’t remember the last time I cried this hard … it might sound silly but my papa’s favourite character was Goofy and when I hug Goofy it’s like hugging my papa again. Thank you so much @disneyparks for making real magic for me today,” she wrote.
There was so much hate on her first video that she has since posted a follow-up responding to the negative comments.
“Absolutely shocking,” she began, before once again explaining that Goofy made her feel closer to her departed grandfather.
“My Mum was filming the video, and when I saw it I decided to post it,” she continued. “I wanted to show the world that at Disneyworld, people of all ages can experience real magic”.
“My notifications were filled with hateful comments, duets and stitches,” she continued. “What struck me most was that so many of these commentators were young, they were teenagers.”
Due to the young age of most haters, she continues to use her video to bring awareness to cyberbulling. If I didn’t love her before, I do now.
As some TikTok viewers noted on the first video, this woman was grieving and Goofy made her feel close to the grandfather she lost — so I hope everyone who had any mean thought feels incredible bad about it.
But to be honest, even without the context, any naysayers can absolutely get lost.
If you don’t have any places that bring you a pure sense of childlike joy, and if that joy doesn’t sometimes bring you to tears, then you’re the one who is doing it wrong. Not this woman living her best life.
Luckily, Rachul’s video finally found it’s way to the right side of TikTok where many people agree with my sentiment.
“People do realise ‘growing up’ doesn’t mean you need to be miserable and not do things that make your heart happy right? Leave her alone,” said one.
“Why are people making fun of her? When will y’all learn to let people enjoy what they want,” said another.

Another very wise commenter noted that Disney connected a lot of adults to their happy childhood memories:
“Some of y’all don’t understand that some adults were children that found peace and comfort in Disney and still do. Let people enjoy things,” they said.
In summary, if seeing someone this happy makes you feel angry, then frankly that’s on you, and my only suggestion is please go to therapy.
