Thieves nearly ruined Easter by stealing 200,000 Cadbury Creme Eggs from an industrial estate in the UK, according to police.

However, cops soon managed to crack the case after the sweet treats vanished from a unit in Telford, in Shropshire, England on February 11.

Police said that the “eggs-travagent” theft was carried out in a vehicle ”presumably purporting to be the Easter bunny”.

The force confirmed that a Joby Pool, 32, had been arrested and charged with criminal damage and theft after being stopped on the M42.

They added that the stolen sweets were worth around £40,000 ($70,000) and hailed officers‘ efforts, saying that they had “saved Easter”.

West Mercia Police said that, given that charges had been brought, they were unable to comment further on the case.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service‘s Market Drayton station replied to news the haul had been recovered, telling police “egg-cellent work by all involved”.
