Sexual assault survivor Dr Jeni Haynes announces new milestone
Childhood abuse survivor Dr Jeni Haynes has made a big announcement, three years after her father was sentenced to a lifetime behind bars.
A Brisbane woman who developed 2,500 personalities after she was repeatedly raped and tortured by her callous father, has finally earned the happy ending that she deserves.
Dr Jeni Haynes has found love after enduring a childhood of torment and long-lasting effects of abuse.
Her achievement joins a number of other milestones, including moving into her own home and releasing her memoir, titled The Girl in the Green Dress.
The sexual assault survivor announced the status of her relationship on Facebook, accompanying the post with the caption “I’m so happy”.
While the identity of her new partner remains undisclosed, well-wishers have flooded Jeni’s post with support.
“As long as he melts your heart, treats you with utmost love and respect, showers you with attention and tenderness – because if he doesn’t, you have a mountain of friends he would need to face. Congratulations,” one friend commented.
“I am thrilled for you Jeni Haynes, absolutely thrilled. Congratulations beautiful, I wish nothing but the very best for you & I‘m looking forward to when you’ll introduce your new love to us all but not until whenever you are ready to,” said another.
“There is so much more to every one of us than just our story, and I‘m pleased you have your person who appreciates that for you. You deserve to be showered with unconditional love and you deserve to be able to give yours to your special person,” commented a third.
Meanwhile others couldn’t help but be intrigued by the mystery of who Jeni’s partner was, including her mother Patricia who has met him but wanted to know more.
“I like stirring it. That is what mum‘s are for. Besides if you have to put out any further info you can always blame me for asking,” Ms Haynes commented.

Jeni’s relationship update comes three years after she watched a judge sentence her perpetrator to at least 33 years behind bars.
Her father Richard John Haynes, now 77 years old, pleaded guilty to 25 offences in March 2019 after abusing, raping and torturing his daughter on a number of occasions when she was between the ages of four and 11.
The torment began in 1974, after Jeni’s family moved to Australia from Durham, England.
For seven years she endured horrendous abuse in their western Sydney home, later dubbed the house of horror.
As a result, Jeni suffered long-term trauma, causing her to develop dissociative identity disorder. She devloped hundreds of personalities as a result.
The family moved back to England in 1981, resulting in the end of her father’s abuse.
It wasn’t until 2009 that Jeni first reported her father to police. Eight years later, he was extradited from the United Kingdom after authorities received a 900,000-word statement from Jeni recounting her abuse.
The rape survivor said goodbye to her multiple personalities, also known as her “alters”, after some of them helped her testify in court.
Reports suggest Jeni’s alter Symphony, a four-year-old girl, testified for two hours before Richard Haynes backflipped on his initial plea, admitting to 25 charges.
“Every one of my alters, every person inside (reacted by saying) the war is over, we won. Stand down,” she told 60 Minutes in an interview.
“We’re free! We’re free, we’re finally, finally free.”
Another win for Jeni happened earlier this year when she successfully sued her father and was awarded $840,000 in damages.
The funds will help her rebuild her life following the repercussions of injuries sustained by her father’s actions including a permanent colostomy bag, damage to her eyesight, dentistry and mental health issues.
“It’s so nice to be vindicated and validated by the courts,” Jeni posted to Facebook earlier this year.
“Dad’s lies are no longer prevailing. Dad’s lies have been exposed and the judges believe me. I feel so much better. My battles have been worth it.”
