A CHILD has fallen off a rollercoaster at an amusement park in the US.

A Westmoreland County emergency dispatcher said an ambulance was sent to the Idlewild and SoakZone amusement park near Pittsburgh about midday on Thursday (2am Friday AEST).

She said the child was conscious and was flown to the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The child’s condition wasn’t immediately available.

The park’s website lists two rollercoasters: a classic wooden one that follows rolling hills and a faster, steel coaster at treetop level.

It wasn’t immediately clear which one the child fell from.

The accident came four days after a 10-year-old boy was decapitated as he rode a water slide at a Kansas water park. Caleb Schwab, a Kansas politician’s son, suffered a fatal neck injury on the slide, which features a 17-storey drop.

Two days ago, three young girls fell 12 metres from a Ferris wheel in Tennessee, leaving a six-year-old girl with a traumatic brain injury.
