Parents of transgender kid post heartwarming births notice

THIS is Kai, he’s 19 years old, but his parents have just posted a heartwarming ‘birth retraction’ in the paper.

Heart-warming message for transgender son

THIS mother is an absolute legend.

Queensland mum Yolanda Bogert placed a heartwarming birth notice in the classifieds section of the Courier Mail newspaper on Tuesday, retracting her daughter’s birth and celebrating her transgender son’s “arrival”.

The notice read:

“In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogged, Elizabeth Anne as a daughter. Oops! Our bad. We would like to present our wonderful son — Kai Bogert. Loving you is the easiest thing in the world. Tidy your room.”

The notice was posted to Twitter yesterday and has received an overwhelming response from around the world. The original tweet has 4,200 retweets and has been favourited over 4,000 times.

Ms Bogert, who lives in Jimboomba, told The Courier-Mail that placing the ad was “a no-brainer”.

“I needed to show my son I support him 100 per cent and wanted to let the world know that.

“It is all very new to us. Kai just told me a few days ago that he no longer wanted to live as a girl.”

Kai said he was surprised by his mum’s response.

“I am so happy with what she has done. This last week has changed everything for me,” he said.

“I am still me but I am more me than I was a few days ago and feel free.”

Jimboomba resident Pullia Smith-McCallum attended Flagstone State Community College with the 19-year-old and told news.com.au Kai first informed his friends of his decision via Facebook. “She said she’s chosen to become transgender and it was her decision and her family are really supportive of it,” Ms Smith-McCallum told news.com.au.
