A young woman has fallen backwards off a treadmill out a third-floor window and died.
Security footage from press agency Newsflash shows the scary moment the gym-goer stumbled off the back of the machine and out of what appeared to be an open window.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday, June 18 at a gym in Pontianak, West Kalimantan in Indonesia.
At least five treadmills were lined up in a row facing away from the large windows, with people running on either side of her at the time.
She could be seen walking slowly and patting her face with a towel seconds before she fell.
It appeared she attempted to grab the side of the window but was unable to save herself.
She has not been named but was reportedly just 22 years old.
Local media said she had gone to the gym with her boyfriend and younger sibling.
Her boyfriend had asked her to exercise with him on the second floor, but she wanted to work out on the treadmills on the third floor, it was reported.
The woman had been working out for just 30 minutes when the tragic fall took place, according to local media reports.
She was reportedly rushed to hospital with serious head injuries, but doctors were unable to save her life.
An autopsy report showed that she had suffered extensive bruising and lacerations to her head.
The Pontianak City Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit is currently investigating.
Police noted that the position of the treadmill, only about 60cm from the window, created a “dangerous” situation.
The gym issued an apology to the woman’s family and closed its business for three days following the fatal fall.
