Woolworths Darlinghurst praised for Mardi Gras display
A photo of shelves at one inner Sydney store has gone viral on Twitter after one shopper noticed a surprising feature.
It’s the biggest party of the year — with one Woolworths supermarket going viral for well and truly understanding the assignment.
With Mardi Gras about to kick off, Woolies Darlinghurst in Sydney’s inner city has set up a display that’s going to make lot of people heading to the celebrations happy.
In a photo shared on Twitter by @catcallxo the display featured a selection of Berocca, paracetamol and ibuprofen, perfect for any post-parade sore heads.
There were also condoms, lip balm and glow-in-the-dark lube at the ready, along with silly string and streamers, and the display was adorned with rainbow flags.
“Woolies Darlinghurst has set up their orgy stand for the weekend,” @catcallxo captioned the photo.
The post has since been liked more than 4000 times, with people joking that Woolies had really “covered all bases” with it.
“I need one of everything,” one person tweeted.
Others said it was a sign “Sydney is healing” and applauded Woolworths for catering to those going out to Mardi Gras.

“Some staff member has had an absolute blast at work last night,” one also wrote.
“I love how they’ve put the most important stuff up top. Brilliant job servicing their community,” one tweet read.
“That is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen!!” another said.
43,000 people are expected to fill the SCG stands at Saturday’s parade to witness 5800 LGBTI community members march around the grounds in celebration of pride.
“We feel truly lucky to have the opportunity to come together and celebrate tomorrow especially given the invasion of Ukraine and the flooding across southeast Queensland and northern NSW,” said Mardi Gras CEO, Albert Kruger.
The parade will dedicate a minute of silence to commemorate the devastating scenes that have played out in Australia and Ukraine this week.
CEO of the Sydney Cricket Ground Kerrie Mather announced that in honour of this year’s Mardi Gras the Ladies Pavilion grandstand will be permanently renamed the Pride Stand and all bathrooms will be made unisex to support the comfort of all gender identities.
Gates open to the Sydney Cricket Ground for ticket holders at 4.45pm and televised coverage of the event will begin at 6.30pm on ABC.
