Woman’s shock at finding naked man living in car boot for 3 days
A woman in the US has shared her shock after finding something “terrifying” hiding in her car for three days – leaving many gobsmacked.
A US woman was left horrified after discovering a naked man had been living in her car boot for three days.
Bethany Coker discovered the nude stranger in her trunk on Tuesday and alerted police who quickly removed the man.
He had been in her car boot for three days though Bethany had no idea. The only clue Bethany had was a filthy car seat that she had filmed a video of herself cleaning on Saturday, unaware the man was hiding in her trunk at the time.
Neighbours were later able to confirm the man had broken into her car on Saturday and climbed over the seats before settling in the boot thanks to footage captured on their home security system.
“This guy has been in my trunk since SATURDAY fully naked. It’s currently Tuesday. Guess I found out where the mud came from…” she wrote in a viral TikTok clip that has been viewed over 10 million times since Thursday.
In the video Bethany, a mechanic, shows footage shared from inside her, talking to the man on February 2.
“Why are you in my trunk?” she asks calmly, before he replies: “It’s a right of passage.”
The man – whose hands can be seen poking out from behind the centre console of the back seat then tells Bethany he’s “the son of the pope” when she asks how he got in her car.
Bethany continues to film the truly bizarre incident, showing the man’s legs hanging out of car while police stand watching him.
He asks if he can put his pants on, and they say they’d “really appreciate” it if he did, before instructing him to “get out”.
Later, one officer can even be heard telling Bethany it was one of the strangest call outs he’s ever been on.
“I’ll tell you, in my whole career, I’ve never come across anything like that,” he says.
Understandably, the video has sparked fear among women, with many tagging Bethany in clips showing them checking their trunks every morning before getting in.
Bethany has explained in the comments she has been told the man had mental health issues and was a missing person.
“He’s currently in a psych ward!! He was a missing person apparently .. I found him LOL,” she told one commenter who asked what happened to the guy involved.
Others asked how Bethany stayed so calm considering the “terrifying” discovery.
“I would’ve been screaming like mad OMG you were so calm,” one said.
“How were you just so chill about it,” another pushed.
Many more stressed they thought the video was fake until the police showed up. But Bethany put those doubts to rest by sharing their neighbour’s CCTV footage on her Instagram account.
“I couldn’t make this up if I tried,” she wrote.
A few days earlier, Bethany had posted a video showing mysterious mud stains all over the driver’s seat in her car.
“It looks like someone rolled around in f**king mud and then got into my car,” she says before cleaning the seat.
“The only logical explanation is like a f**king muddy ass homeless man slept in my f**king car last night.”
The irony of her comments were not lost on her followers, who pointed out how “chilling” it was.
“I can’t believe you cleaned it with him in there and called him out AND HE SAID NOTHING,” one commented.
“This is truly horror movie style scary,” another said.
But the big unanswered question people had was this one: “How did he survive chilling in a trunk for 3 days?”
While another said, “this is why you should always lock your car at night”.
