Woman receives ‘creepy’ note from neighbour at her door

A mum has detailed a “creepy” note from a “stalker” left at her door – and it’s left her rattled.

A mum made a disturbing discovery and realised her neighbour had been “stalking” her after leaving a note at her door.

The woman, who is married with kids, came home one day to find a handwritten message containing the letters “HMU” – meaning “hit me up” – alongside a phone number, she explained on Reddit.

Thinking it might be from an estranged friend she had lost touch with, she decided to send a text with a photo of the note to the number.

The anonymous person on the other end simply replied: “Goodnight”.

“Are you going to tell me who this is or be scared, lol,” the mum replied.

The messages then turned creepy, giving the mum the impression she had been followed or watched recently.

“Definitely don’t be scared since you can’t go anywhere without your man counting your steps,” the person texted back.

“Either way, don’t worry, no harm to you.”

The person then asked her to reach back out when she was alone and could make her own decisions.

Confused, she asked why they couldn’t just have a conversation and pressed the stranger to reveal their identity.

“Are you able to speak for yourself, or do you have your babysitter with you?” the anonymous number replied, before she told them she could talk.

After revealing that his name was Robert and asking if she had an OnlyFans, the woman ended the conversation, saying she didn’t know a Robert.

She then managed to uncover his identity through a reverse number search and found out it was her “weird” neighbour, who was twice her age.

“Yes, I know it was dumb to message this number, but I honestly thought it had to be a close friend because only they know where I live,” she shared on the forum.

“We found the stalker’s name by reverse searching the number, and his address and name popped up. He’s our f***ing neighbour.”

She was especially creeped out when she realised that the man must have waited for her and her partner to leave the house before coming by and leaving the note.

“He clearly watches us walk our dogs, take our kids to school, and just be outside like a peeping Tom,” she said. “We’ve contacted authorities and told them everything we know.”

When someone in the comments warned her to “be careful”, she replied, “I will be. I’m really scared and couldn’t sleep. The fact he knows when we leave unsettles me the most.”

Since the ordeal, she’s ordered a doorstep camera so she can keep an eye out for any strange behaviour.

Other commenters weighed in on the story, many as disgusted by the man’s behaviour.
