‘Where is he?’: Barron Trump nowhere to be seen as former first family departs

When Donald and Melania packed their things and left the White House, one of their kids was nowhere to be seen, sparking a tirade of memes.

QAnon followers left sad and disillusioned after Biden inauguration

Donald Trump’s youngest son Barron absent from his father’s farewell yesterday, and 24 hours later he has still not been seen in public.

The 14-year-old wasn’t seen joining the departing first family as they flew out of Washington D.C. and into their new home town of Miami either – despite a massive media presence at both ends.

He is understood to have been on the flight, but he didn’t stand with his siblings on the tarmac to listen to his father’s speech.

People reports that Barron was not seen leaving the White House with his parents yesterday, when they made their final trip to Joint Base Andrews to board Air Force One.

The absence has sparked a torrent of memes on social media, with many suggesting he had been left in the White House to his own devices – like main character Kevin McCallister in 1990 film Home Alone.

As they left the White House, Mr Trump and his wife gave their farewells to a crowd that included, Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and their children, as well as Donald Trump Jr and Kimberly Guilfoyle.

“Have a good life, we will see you soon,” Mr Trump told reporters. “We’ve left it all – as the athletes would say – we left it all on the field.

“In a month when we’re sitting in Florida, we can’t look at each other and say, ‘Well, only if we worked a little bit harder.’”

Their relocation, however, is becoming increasingly awkward as the Trumps are also facing a backlash from their new neighbours at Mar-a-Lago who don’t want them there.

The Washington Post reports they have banded together and issued a demand letter to the town of Palm Beach and the US Secret Service asserting that Mr Trump lost his legal right to live at Mar-a-Lago because of an agreement he signed in the early 1990s when he converted the estate from his private residence to a private club.

“For years, various neighbours have raised concerns about disruptions, such as clogged traffic and blocked streets, caused by the president’s frequent trips to the club,” the Post reports.

“Even before he was president, Trump created ill will in the town by refusing to comply with even basic local requirements, such as adhering to height limits for a massive flagpole he installed.”
