Voter gets choked up as he reveals who he voted for
A dad has gotten choked up after revealing who he has chosen to vote for in the US election, and everyone has a lot to say about it.
An American dad has gotten choked up after being asked by a reporter why he voted for Kamala Harris instead of Donald Trump.
Jason Faasse was stopped by a CNN reporter as he was leaving a polling station and was immediately honest about why Ms Harris had his vote in the swing state of Michigan.
“I have three daughters, four children overall and women’s rights are pretty important to them,” he said.
Mr Faasse then paused and looked surprised that he’d been overcome with emotion.
“Sorry. I’m getting a little emotional about that. I didn’t think I was going to do that,” he said.
“But just their bodies, their choice, that type of mentality. I want them to grow up in a world that’s welcoming to everybody, so yeah, that’s why I cast my vote today.”
The conservative-dominated Supreme Court of the United States, that Donald Trump played a key role in creating, overturned the landmark 1973 “Roe v Wade” decision in 2022.
This had protected women’s right to a termination for half a century, but the court ruled that individual states can permit or restrict the procedure themselves.
Some 20 states, mainly in the south, have since decreed bans or added heavy restrictions on abortion.

The response to the Michigan dad’s emotional admission just shows how divided the country has become.
While some people commented “thank you”, pointing out it was insane we were still fighting for women’s rights in 2024, there were plenty who disagreed with him.
Some even mocked him for getting emotional and about him wanting his daughters to have rights to their own bodies.
Someone called his display of emotion “pathetic” another said that a man fighting for his daughter’s rights to have abortions was an example of “brainwashing”.
One Trump supporter even claimed it was good he wanted his daughters to have accuses to abortion because a man that thinks like him shouldn’t be “reproducing” more of his genes.
Another said there was nothing for the man to get teary about because “not one woman has or will lose a single right”.
