US woman reveals how she found out husband’s alleged plot to kill her

Theresa Michaels was preparing for a family holiday when police knocked on her door with a devastating allegation about her husband.

A mum in the United States has been left blindsided after being told her husband was allegedly plotting to kill her for her life insurance.

Theresa Michaels has spoken out about the incident, revealing it has not only devastated her but left her financially destitute.

The mum-of-three had been preparing for a family holiday to California in June when police knocked on the door of her Arizona home and alleged that her husband had been plotting to kill her.

“I was completely floored,” she told local station KMOV4, describing it as “the worst kind of betrayal”.

According to Mesa Police, authorities were contacted by a woman on June 12 who claimed Dallas Michaels was plotting to kill his wife.

The female, who has not been named by police, alleged he had spoken to her about it multiple times in the past six months.

The woman alleged he planned to kill Ms Michaels using fentanyl to spike her drink and claim her insurance policy after her death.

Police were then able to obtain phone calls between Mr Michaels and the woman in which he allegedly said he would be taking his family on a holiday to California and “doing it then”.

Mr Michaels allegedly arranged to purchase fentanyl from the woman, however, was arrested by police before he could go through with it.

“He admitted to speaking to the female about killing his wife though he insisted he was more interested in killing himself,” Mesa Police alleged in a statement.

“He stated both he and his wife have life insurance policies and he described the overdosing strategy to avoid suspicion,” the statement claimed.

Mr Michaels has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and another count of solicitation to possess narcotics.

Police also allege Mr Michaels had been having a long-term affair and had been engaged to the woman, who had no idea he was actually married.

When police told Ms Michaels of her husband’s alleged plot she was stunned.

“I felt sick, I felt sick to my stomach,” she said.

Her husband’s arrest has left Ms Michaels and her three children in financial difficulty, and she claims that he “misinformed me about everything” when it came to their situation.

She has now had to file for bankruptcy and their family home has been foreclosed on after she missed several mortgage repayments.

Ms Michaels has started a GoFundMe page to help her with costs as she obtains a divorce by default.

She now hopes to get enough money together so she can have a “fresh start” in another state.

“I‘ve got a clean record and was an excellent wife and I am a wonderful mother,” she wrote on the GoFundMe page.

“I know I didn’t deserve this. It’s been one heck of a 2020 for me and I could use your help in getting back on my feet so that I can make a new life for me and my kids.”
