Trump’s concert ‘a complete and total disaster’

AWKWARD jiggy dancing, boot-scootin’ tunes and some seriously icy stares from Melania. The Trump welcome concert had some awkward moments.

Donald Trump: You're Not Forgotten Anymore

WELL the Trump inauguration circus has well and truly begun, with the official ‘Make America Great Again!’ welcome concert taking place at the Lincoln Memorial in DC.

The Daily Beast didn’t mince words when describing it:

When the concert was held for Obama’s inauguration, Bruce Springsteen and Beyonce (aka The Boss and The Queen) leant their voices to the celebration.

For Trump, Toby Keith, 3 Doors Down, Sam Moore, DJ Ravidrums and “classical crossover act” The Piano Guys performed.

Much has been written about the difficulty Trump may have experienced securing acts for the welcome concert.

When Ice T got the call up to perform at Trump’s inauguration he tweeted “I just got call to perform at the Inauguration ... I didn’t pick up and blocked the number.”

Charlotte Church had this to say:

“@realDonaldTrump Your staff have asked me to sing at your inauguration, a simple internet search would show I think you’re a tyrant. Bye.”

People on social media were decidedly underwhelmed by the talent on display.

There are a few things worthy of note from the concert.

First, the turnout was a little different to the two previous years, as this tweet shows:

Melania and Donald took style cues from Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright in ‘House of Cards’

Trump and wife Melania walked in to the Rolling Stones song ‘Heart of Stone,’ which has the following deeply unsettling lyrics:

There’s been so many girls that I’ve known

I’ve made so many cry, and still I wonder why

Here comes a little girl, I see her walking down the street

She’s all by herself, I try to knock her off her feet

What’s different about her I don’t really know

No matter how I try, I just can’t make her cry

Don’t keep on looking that same old way

If you try acting sad, you’ll only make me glad

Better listen little girl, if you going walking down the street

I ain’t got no love, I ain’t the kind to meet

Right on.
Right on.

A sassy editor cut to Trump singing the line ‘ain’t the sharpest tool in the shed’ in a performance of Smashmouth’s song ‘All Star’.

Someone on Twitter calling themselves ‘Fill Werrell’ enjoyed it so much he tweeted it.

Twitter can’t stop talking about Trump’s jiggy sway-dance

Jon Voight dropped some knowledge on the crowd

Actor Jon Voight delivered the opening address to honour the incoming president. He spoke about the “gruelling” year and a half that the president elect had endured, and said there had been “a barrage of propaganda that left us all breathless with anticipation not knowing if God could reverse all the negative lies against Mr. Trump, whose only desire was to make America great again.” Voight added, “He certainly didn’t need this job. And yes, God answered all our prayers.”

While the Trumps had moments of engagement, there were also moments where they looked decidedly bored

In turn, Melania did *not* dig the performance by dance crew The Rocket Bots:
