Teen, 19, trolled for proposing to 76-year-old girlfriend: ‘Soulmates’

A 19-year-old man’s proposal to his girlfriend, 56 years his senior, has gone viral for all the wrong reasons. But he insists they’re “soulmates”.

An Italian teenager is being trolled after he proposed to a much older woman who many have mistaken as his grandmother.

Giuseppe D’Anna, 19, took to TikTok to share footage of the moment he asked his “soulmate” – his 76-year-old girlfriend – to be his wife.

His new fiancee’s name has not been publicly disclosed but she appears in many of the teen’s videos – including their now viral engagement clip which currently has over 22 million views.

In the clip Giuseppe, who was born in 2003, can be seen getting on one knee in front of his silver-haired partner – who is 56 years his senior – during the lavish proposal.

As the pair kiss, Giuseppe’s wife-to-be is surrounded by red heart balloons, and she’s been given a giant diamond ring that has at least three substantial rocks.

The video then shares an array of selfies taken by the teenager on what appears to be a romantic getaway.

Giuseppe’s grey-haired fiancee, born in 1946, appears overjoyed by the proposal – posing for a string of snaps with a beaming smile while holding a bunch of red roses.

“La nostra promessa,” the teenager captioned the clip, which translates to “our promise”.

He also stated: “This is only the beginning of a long relationship.

The video has been met with a huge response, even by TikTok standards, with more than 55,000 comments and over 1.6 million ‘likes’.

“I thought it was a joke,” one commented, to which Giuseppe replied: “My love.”

Others trolled the couple, suggesting the young man was only in the relationship for the money.

“Hang in there bro, few more years and you’ll get those millions,” one user remarked.

“How many billions does Grandma have in her account?” one said.

Meanwhile, one man wrote: “She was 57 when we he was born.”

Suspicions over the couple’s authenticity

Meanwhile, many are convinced the older woman is his grandmother and the proposal is nothing more than an internet prank.

Viewers attempted to prove the theory by pointing out the twosome usually kiss on the cheek, and are never seen kissing passionately in any videos they have shared on TikTok.

But Giuseppe seems determined to prove the authenticity of their relationship, streaming his account with loved-up videos and photos.

“Siamo anime gemelle,” the teen wrote beneath one clip, which translates to, “We are soulmates.”

While in another video he wrote: “We are 56 years apart but love goes beyond everything.”
