Teacher’s chilling email about Georgia school shooting suspect Colt Gray

The mother of Georgia school shooting suspect Colt Gray claimed that teachers had noticed something about her son.

Mother of Colt Gray reportedly warned school of ‘extreme emergency’

The mother of Georgia school shooting suspect Colt Gray claimed that teachers had noticed her son was making references to violence at the school – even before she called to warn administrators about him.

“The counsellor said, ‘I wanted to let you know that earlier this morning, one of Colt’s teachers had sent me an email saying Colt had been making references to school shootings’,” Marcee Gray told ABC News in a video interview from her home, per The New York Post.
“Between my gut feelings, the text messages, and now this email, you need to, like, run to the classroom.”

The 14-year-old allegedly opened fire at classmates and staff at Apalachee High School last week, killing four people. He faces life in prison.

The accused shooter’s father, Colin Gray, 52, was charged with offences including manslaughter and second degree murder after the shooting, in what is a rare case of a parent being prosecuted for their child’s alleged crimes.

Prosecutors allege he bought the AR-15 rifle his son used in the shooting as a Christmas present. Mr Gray’s charges carry a total sentence of 180 years in jail.

Ms Gray previously revealed she’d desperately called the high school and warned a counsellor of an “extreme emergency”, according to The Washington Post.

“I was the one that notified the school counsellor at the high school. I told them it was an extreme emergency and for them to go immediately and find (Colt) to check on him,” she told her sister in a text message, the paper reported.

Authorities said Colt opened fire about 30 minutes after his mother’s warnings. They said school resources officers tried to track him down, but stopped a different student instead.

Speaking of the two students and two teachers killed in the massacre, Ms Gray told ABC News: “If I could take their place, I would. I would in a heartbeat.”

In the aftermath of the deadly attack, it’s also emerged that a probe into the teenager’s behaviour was conducted by police in 2023.

The FBI had been tipped off that the then-13-year-old allegedly threatened to shoot up a middle school on the messaging platform Discord, according to local media reports.
