Teacher shares ‘inappropriate’ outfits she can’t wear to work

A student teacher has shared an outfit she’s worn to work that got her in “big trouble” – but can you see an issue with it?

Student teacher reveals outfits she's been 'in trouble' for wearing

A student teacher has shared four of her recent work outfits that were deemed in violation of school dress code – but many have been left wondering why she “got in trouble”.

Mei Mei, who lives in LA, shared nine outfits she’s worn to work recently including the ones she was “dress coded” over.

But the popular TikTok user, who goes by the username @meimonstaa, left many people surprised over how “normal” and “unoffensive” the outfits were.

As a result, the 21-yer-old’s video has blown up, raking in over 3 million views and almost 500,000 likes since it was shared on March 4.

“If you haven’t seen my videos recently, you wouldn’t know that my outfits have got me dress coded recently,” she began the clip.

“Four of these outfits have got me in trouble. Literally, can you guess which ones they are?”

Outfit one is a patterned floral skirt teamed with a white polo neck jumper, that the trainee primary school teacher described as “one of my favourites”.

While outfit two was a pair of pale blue pants with a white satin shirt.

But as we move into outfit three, Mei Mei reveals this was one that had been deemed “inappropriate” by the school.

The offensive ensemble was made up of a pair of high-waisted brown pants, a cream-coloured T-shirt with cactuses on it tucked in, and a cream-coloured cardigan over the top.

“I actually got in trouble for wearing this T-shirt because apparently you’re only supposed to wear T-shirts on Spirit Day,” she said.

The next outfit that caused a problem was a chunky white turtleneck sweater dress, which sat at her mid-thigh. She wore it with black stockings and a coat for some of the day.

“I was actually wearing this exact outfit when I got dress coded for the second time,” she said.

“They told me it was inappropriate for school,” she added.

“I’m not mad at it, I just really don’t understand. At this point, I’m just really embarrassed. I thought it would be OK with these tights. And like, this dress is long.

“I even typed on Amazon, ‘dresses for teachers,’ and this is what came up.”

Another problematic look was a grey jumper teamed with leather look pants.

“To be fair, the leggings are kind of hit or miss, but I got in big trouble for this one,” she said.

Other outfits worn that didn’t cause her any issues include a white long-sleeve sweater under a blue jumpsuit, a green jumpsuit, and a “prairie” dress which she said the school “loved”.

While she didn’t show the fourth outfit that got her in trouble, she said she was reported by her school to the university where she’s studying, which landed her in more hot water.

“If I get dress-coded one more time, I get kicked out of the program,” she said.

Mei Mei appears to have a good attitude about the situation, however many commenters were shocked by the school’s strict dress code.

“There’s a big difference between being young and being inappropriate,” one stated.

“Not going to lie, I feel like their constant dress coding is misogynistic and feels targeted,” another claimed.

Others urged Mei Mei to find a new program, stating if an older woman wore the same outfits “they wouldn’t care”.

“Is this like a super strict Catholic school or something?” one asked.

“The fact you can’t wear a T-shirt is a red flag,” another wrote.
