Tahnee Shanks’ daughter meets members of her family for the first time
The two-year-old daughter of an Australian woman missing in Mexico has arrived in Queensland with emotional pictures released.
The daughter of a missing mother in Mexico has safely touched down in Australia and met members of her family for the first time.
Photos were released on Thursday showing Tahnee Shanks’ baby girl Adelynn in Mackay being introduced to her cousins who she had never seen before.
It comes after the two-year-old was shockingly seen walking barefoot and alone on the street at night after being dumped at a church in Cancun last week.
Her uncle Ben Shanks and grandmother Leanne flew to Mexico to be with her and an emergency Australian passport was organised to bring her home.
Adelynn’s mother Tahnee was reported missing by authorities last week as the search continues to find her.
The Whitsundays 32-year-old has been living in Mexico for nine years and her partner Jorge Aguirre Estudillo has also been reported as missing.
The family said they are not giving up on finding her after an emotional last nine days.
“Now we have Adelynn home and safe, we can focus 100 per cent on the search and investigation for Tahnee,” they said in a statement.
“We will not give up hope or looking for you Tahnee.”
The family said they do not want to hamper the investigation while it’s underway and were satisfied with the job Mexican police are doing.
“No new information has been released from the Mexican police at this stage, but they are following up on any leads they have,” they said.
“After seeing first-hand what they are doing over there in Mexico, we are more than happy they are throwing every resource at this case.
They also thanked the Australian embassy, volunteers in Mexico, Qantas staff and donors to a GoFundMe page for all of their help and support.
Mexican police have reportedly seized a video of a woman being forced into a van, while publication Por Esto has published an image of a burnt-out van that is allegedly linked to the case.
