Cosmetic surgeon claims Vladimir Putin has had ‘filler’

A Sydney cosmetic doctor has called out Vladimir Putin for having “too much filler”, blasting the Russian President in a social media post.

One of Australia’s leading aesthetic doctors, Dr Jake Sloane, took to his Instagram to expose the botched cosmetic work Mr Putin has received.

Dr Sloane posted a side-by-side image showing a younger Mr Putin and a more current picture.

A caption above the image read: “When you Putin too much filler and look like an elderly Cushingoid cat.”

In the post, he wrote: “This is an isolated lapse of ethics where I will publicly ridicule someone for how ridiculous they look after injectables,” adding the hashtags #catface, #pillowface and #toomuchfiller.

He also had some strong words for Mr Putin, calling him an “utter piece of sh*t”.

Rumours that the Russian President has undergone cosmetic procedures have been around for years, with some cosmetic surgeons believing they have been done in a bid to improve his tough guy image.

There are claims the 69-year-old has had several cosmetic procedures over the years, including Botox, cheek fillers and a chin and eye lift.

Rumours first began swirling that Mr Putin had received Botox when he attended a meeting in Kyiv in 2011 with a black eye.

Many suggested the bruise could be the result of the filler, with an article from Russian New Times magazine quoting four plastic surgeons who agreed the bruise was likely from forehead Botox injections.

His appearance generated so much speculation that a spokesperson for the leader had to issue a denial, claiming it was “probably how the light fell” and that Mr Putin was “tired”.

Leading UK cosmetic surgeon Gerard Lambe said cheek fillers probably played a large part in Mr Putin’s changed appearance.

He told The Sun that most people’s faces become thinner with age, but the Russian leader’s has become noticeably wider and more plump.

“I’d say he’s clearly got a dedicated aesthetic surgeon on his team as these fillers were certainly quite subtle to start,” Dr Lambe said.

“In images from years ago he certainly looks much more gaunt and craggy but some work has been done to create a youthful, fuller contour with fillers.”

Dr Lambe said is it possible Mr Putin has also had an eye and chin lift at some point in the last few years.

“I can also see a subtle upper eye lift and quite likely a chin lift – giving him a much more alert and fresher look,” he said.

An eye lift aims to improve the appearance of the area around the eyes by removing excess skin from the upper eyelids and reducing bagginess from the lower lids.

A chin lift is usually done to remove excess skin and fat from around the jawline and lower face in order to create a more youthful look.

However, there are some who believe that Mr Putin’s drastically changing face isn’t due to a series of cosmetic procedures and is, in fact, from the Russian leader’s alleged use of steroids.

Doctor and former UK Foreign Secretary, Lord David Owen, accused Mr Putin of taking steroids, which he warned can lead to increased aggression.

“Look at his face, see how that has changed – he now has an oval face,” Lord Owen told British digital radio station Times Radio.

“People who said, ‘Oh, it’s plastic surgery or Botox,’ I don’t believe that at all.

“He’s on either anabolic steroids as a bodybuilder – and he’s very proud of his muscles and strips to the waist and everything like that – or he’s on corticosteroids. If you’re on these drugs, this gives you this face.”

Lord Owen said these drugs can reduce your immunity and make you more vulnerable to Covid-19, noting that Mr Putin has basically been in “complete isolation” recently.

“Which indicates he’s on a steroid and probably, maybe, a combination of both,” he said.

“And we ought to fess up to it, that carries with it, particularly anabolic steroids, bodybuilders, aggressiveness that comes through.”
